Washington: On Friday, there have been reactions from around the world over the killing of Iran’s top commander Qasim Sulemani in US airstrikes in Iraq and global leaders have appealed for peace. Qasim Suleimani and Hashad al-Shaabi’s deputy commander Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis were killed in a US military operation on the orders of US President Donald Trump. Trump, who first appeared in the media after Sulemani’s death, said he did not want to start a war with Iran.
Iranian Major Qasim Suleimani has died in US airstrikes near the airport in Iraq’s capital Baghdad. The missile attack killed at least eight people. Popular mobilization forces (PMF) deputy commander Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis was also killed. Qasim was included in America’s great enemies. How important Kasim was to America’s arch-rival Iran could be gauged from the fact that he carried out all the campaigns in West Asia.
Sulaimani was a headache for America
Sulaimani had a very important role in Iraq. The Iran-backed force was formed under his leadership to save Baghdad from the Islamic State’s terror. Whose name was Popular Mobilization Force? Sulaimani was a very old enemy of America. He was instrumental in the bloody war between Iran and Iraq in the 1980s. In this war, America supported Iraq’s dictator Saddam Hussein.
Sulaimani was plotting the attack
Trump said, “Sulaimani was plotting to attack American diplomats and military personnel and that’s why he was targeted. If anyone retaliates, we have identified our goals to deal with it and I am fully prepared to take any necessary step. Let me tell you that by the order of US President Donald Trump, General Qasim Sulemani was killed in a US air strike. This move by the US has dramatically increased tensions in the Gulf region.
